Key persons from YU gathered at a place to encourage alumnus juniors starting social life

Accumulation of thick alumni’s affection by more than 200 participants consisting of alumnus seniors and new employees, etc.

<The 9th Cheonma Employment Alumni Welcome Ceremony>

 “Dear juniors, be the leaders of Korea!”

 Persons from YU (President CHOI Oe-chool) who are leading Korea gathered in Samjung Hotel in Seoul at 7:00 pm on the 23rd. The purpose was to encourage juniors who started social life in the metropolitan area including Seoul through the gates of employment.

Cheonma Employment Alumni Welcome Ceremony was held by YU Seoul Alumni Association (Chairman KIM Seok-Hoe). The event was first held in 2012 and the 9th event was held this year. The welcome ceremony could not be held for two years due to COVID-19 pandemic but was held this year for the first time in three years.

 It is rare to hold an alumni event to congratulate and encourage juniors starting social life by seniors graduated tens of years ago. Many seniors have been attending without absence from the 1st event to the 9th event. The event was fulfilled with more than 200 YU alumni including more than 50 alumnus juniors employed recently in metropolitan area including Seoul. They greeted each other and gave advice and encouragement about social life.

 YU graduates from politics, relations, business, law, culture and sports such as Chairman KIM Seok-hoe of YU Seoul Alumni Association (Class 75 of Faculty of Architecture, CEO of Bolim Construction Co., Ltd.), Chairman YOON Dong-han of YU Alumni Association (Class 66 of Business Administration, Chairman of Kolmar Korea), for Minister JEON Jae-hee of Health and Welfare (Class 68 of Administration), Chairman YOO Gun-ha of Kunwon Engineering (Class 71 of Architecture), Chairman KWAK Keun-ho of A⁺ Group (Class 76 of Chemical Engineering), Assembly Member JU Ho-young (Class 78 of Law), and Chairman YANG Jun-hyuk of YANG Jun-hyuk Baseball Foundation (Class 88 of Economy), etc. came to the place to see their juniors in spite of busy schedules.

 Chairman KIM Seok-hoe of YU Seoul Alumni Association said in his welcome message, “Today’s place is for encouragement of juniors starting their first steps in the society and harmonization between seniors and juniors. Especially, this event that had been held every year since 2012 is held for the first time for three years and is more meaningful. Let’s have a time of communication as mentors and mentees. I hope the juniors, who are about to start social life, to become the leaders of Korea with the pride of Cheonma Persons at this place.”

 JEONG Yeon-seok (Class 13 of Mechanical Engineering) gave thanks on behalf of employment alumni, “I felt reassured when I came here and saw the outstanding seniors as a newcomer to society. I thank seniors for preparing this place." I had my dream walking on Cheonma Way of alma mater. “I will have a bigger dream based on the seniors working in various areas and layers as role models. Seniors will also make assistant so that the 9th Cheonma Employment Alumni Welcome Ceremony may be continued to 99th ceremony.”

 Chairman YOON Dong-han of YU Alumni Association said, “We are here because our alma mater exists. YU is the only university that numerous seniors and juniors held an alumni event to gather to congratulate and encourage employment of juniors. I hope you do your best at respective positions with positive attitude.”

 In the event, President CHOI Oe-chool of YU and Director LIM Seong-woo of External Relations also participated as representatives of YU. President CHOI Oe-chool said, “Looking at the alumni who have achieved big dreams and contributed to the development of society, I feel again that today’s remarkable development and achievements of YU were possible because of the alumni here. I hope juniors, who are going to start their first steps to society, to be the talents who will contribute to human society as well as development of Korea in the footsteps of seniors.”

 In the event, Manager SHIN Tae-yong of Indonesia national football team (Class 88 of Physical Education) and a trot singer LEE Chan-won (Class 15 of Economics and Finance) sent a congratulatory message and video letter, respectively, to encourage alumni to start social life.
